New Delhi, 13 March 2025: The Indian Journalists Union is shocked and condemns the arrest of two women journalists of an online news channel Pulse News – Managing Director  P Revathi and reporter Bandi Sandhya, in Telangana by the Hyderabad Cyber Crime police on Wednesday 12 March for allegedly circulating a video on social media platforms containing ‘defamatory content’ against ruling Congress government and its Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and ‘violating relevant sections of the IT Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).’ The Union said the case is being given a political colour and that the 14-day judicial custody of the two must be immediately revoked. 

New Delhi, 10 March 2025: The Indian Journalists (IJU) joins its affiliate Shramjivi Patrakar Sangh Uttar Pradesh in strongly condemning the brutal killing of local correspondent of Dainik Jagran journalist, largest circulated Hindi Daily in the state and RTI activist Raghavendra Bajpai in Sitapur district on Saturday, March 8. The IJU demands adequate compensation to Bajpai’s family, exemplary punishment to the perpetrators of this heinous crime and ensure safety and security of journalists so that they can carry out their duties without fear or favour. 

New Delhi/ March 8, 2025: The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) expresses serious concern at the Government of Maharashtra’s decision to set up a media monitoring centre to track news reportage in all the forms of news media including print and digital. The union opined that such an attempt of the government will have serious impact on freedom of press.

New Delhi, 15 October 2024: The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) expresses grave concern over the filing of an FIR against Sunil Chadha of ‘The Newz Radar’ in Himachal Pradesh and a murderous attack on Ramesh Behl, journalist and President, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Press Association Regd, in Punjab. The two cases, said IJU, must be viewed as an assault on freedom of expression and stifling press freedom and demands justice for the journalists.

New Delhi, 25 September 2024: The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) welcomes Bombay High Court order striking down as “unconstitutional” the amended IT Rules, 2021 rules which empower the Centre to identify “fake news” on social media platforms through a Fact Check Unit (FCU). 

New Delhi, 18 September 2024: Observing World Equal Pay Day today, the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) urges media houses and managements in the country to take concrete and fundamental steps to close the discriminatory gender pay gap prevalent in the profession. The union also demands from the government, particularly the Ministry of Women and Child Development that it ensures pay parity to further its goal of women rights and empowerment.

New Delhi/ August 22, 2024: Indian Journalists Union (IJU) expresses grave concern for seeking religious identity of a journalist by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma for asking a question and for his comment after knowing that the journalist is a Muslim. The CM said that the Muslims will forced Hindus to leave Assam. IJU strongly condemns the attitude of the Assam Chief Minister for asking critical questions to him.

New Delhi, 8 August 2024: The Indo Bangla Journalists Forum, which is headed by IJU President Geetartha Pathak, expresses serious concern at the fake and exaggerated news in a section of media particularly on social media and other digital platforms of India and also Bangladesh relating to attacks on minorities following resignation of Sheikh Hasina and consequent fall of Awami League government.
