Agartala, (Tripura), 11 February 2021: The first meeting of the Gender Council of the Tripura Journalists Union (TJU), an affiliate of the IJU, took place on Thursday. Constituted on 30 January, JUA’s State Conference, the 11-member Gender Council took into account the low percentage of women journalists in both the profession and field and decided to hold workshops to encourage their participation, as part of its action plan.

8 March 2020, ITANAGAR: The female journalists engaged in various print and electronic media of the state celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) here by organizing a meeting wherein discussions were held on the issues and challenges facing the women in the state’s media.
The journalists highlighted the challenges they face in their professional environment, especially with regard to security measures at their respective offices.
8 March 2020: The Indian Journalists Union urged women journalists to join and strengthen the unions. At the same time, it called upon the Union Labour Ministry to ratify the ILO Convention 190 to end violence and harassment in the world of work, as these have devastating implications for the targeted journalist as her well-being, her work, her private life and eventually press freedom are affected.
