New Delhi, 3 August 2023: The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) expresses grave concern at the open threat by one rogue person claiming himself as Manoj Choudhury to the journalists gathered in Vijay Chowk outside Parliament House on Monday 1 August in front of the police. 

In the video footage that went viral, the man was about to attack the journalists present there, however, the police grabbed and took him away. He threatened the journalists saying that he would come back again and chop the journalists. 

In a statement, IJU President and former Member of Press Council of India Geetartha Pathak and Secretary General and Vice President of International Federation of Journalists IFJ Sabina Inderjit said the safety and security of journalists across the country should be ensured and for the purpose a Central act be enacted immediately, as the Union’s demand for the same has been long pending. The Union also demands stern action against the individual who threatened the journalists.
