8 January 2018: The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) strongly condemned the registration of FIR against the Tribune newspaper based in Chandigarh and its reporter Rachna Khaira by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for exposing the data breach of Aadhaar information of the citizens for a fee. In a statement issued on Monday, the IJU President S N Sinha, Secretary-General  Amar Devulapalli and Secretary Balwinder Jammu said it was strange that the UIDAI instead of checking the loop holes in its system was targeting the newspaper and the reporter who exposed the corruption and criminal breach of trust by its own staff who were selling the information to make money.

21 November 2017: The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) strongly condemned the cold blooded murder of a senior journalist working for Syandan Patrika, a leading Bengali daily of Agartala, Sudip Datta Bhowmik by a jawan of the Tripura State Rifles at R K Nagar, a short distance from Agartala on Tuesday.

21 September 2017: The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) strongly condemned the abduction and murder of Santanu Bhowmick, Reporter of local TV News Channel ‘Dinrat’ by the activists of the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) on Wednesday at Mandai in West Tripura district.  He went there to cover the agitation and road blockade by the ITFT. They hit him on head from behind and when he fell down, he was abducted and taken to unknown place. Later he was found in serious condition and shifted to Agartala Medical College Hospital where he died.

6 June 2017: The Indian Journalists Union (IJU), the premier and most representative organization of the working journalists in the country, strongly condemned the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raids on the office and residential premises of the NDTV founders Prannoy Roy and his wife Radhika Roy on Monday for causing alleged loss to a private sector bank. In a statement issued on Tuesday, 6 June, the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) President S N Sinha, Secretary-General Amar Devulapalli, International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) Vice-President Sabina Inderjit and Press Council of India (PCI) member K Amarnath termed it as an attack on the independent media which did not conform to narrative of the ruling establishment.

11 May 2017: The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) on Friday welcomed the amendments to the Working Journalists and Other Newspaper Employees (Conditions of Service and other Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, popularly known as Working Journalists Act (WJA), making the punishment more stringent to the newspaper managements for violating the provisions of the Act by the Kejriwal government in Delhi.
