Guwahati, 27 April, 2020: Journalists Union of Assam (JUA) welcomes announcement of life insurance coverage of 50 lakhs to journalists covering Covid-19. JUA and it's parent organization Indian Journalists Union ( IJU) demanded the government to extend Covid-19 insurance coverage for doctors and health workers to journalists also. It is heartening that the government finally recognised the dedication of journalists in fighting the deadly virus braving their lives who are not only covering the Covid-19 related issues but also generating mass awareness among the people of the state.

JUA urges the government to furnish the details of the insurance coverage to journalists of the state.
